The Jim Davis Sportsmanship Award
In 2004, New Jersey District 12 established the Jim Davis Cup, presented annually to the league that wins the 12-year-old District Tournament.
Named in memory of the late Trentonian sports reporter Jim Davis, the award honors his legacy of support for youth baseball. Similar to the Stanley Cup, this prestigious award travels from league to league, with each year's District Champion's name engraved upon it.
The presidents of District 12 Little League also established the Jim Davis Sportsmanship Award to recognize outstanding character. Each member league nominates one 12-year-old baseball player and one 12-year-old softball player annually. This award embodies Jim Davis' belief that every young athlete deserves recognition, not just the all-stars.
