Little League Baseball Divisions

The below division descriptions are designed to help parents see how Lawrence LL divides up our divisions.  The descriptions are designed to be a guide and we may need to alter divisions and rules within the division each year based on registration numbers and skill level.  Our goal each year is to place players in the appropriate division based on age and skill level to give each player a positive experience and to allow for them to be successful and develop as a player and person.

The Grapefruit Region (ages 5 & 6) is an all T Ball Division for boys and girls.  In this region the focus will be on learning the basics of the game, rules, positions and having fun.  All players will receive a T shirt, socks and hat. Players age 6 that did not play T Ball as a 5 year old - have a choice to play T Ball or Coach Pitch.   This program will run mid April through early June.

The Cooperstown Region ( Ages 6, 7 & 8) is an all coach-pitch region.  In this region, there is no stealing and no advancing on overthrows.  However, in preparing players for actually playing baseball, a team’s batting half of an inning is over after 3 outs are made or 5 runs are scored.  There will not be any standings or playoffs in this region.

In the Great Lakes Region, (Ages 7, 8 & 9) we phase in player pitching starting with a few innings per game. This will be a combination of player pitch and caoch pitch.   Base stealing is also phased in during the season and initially base runners are held up when a ball hit to the outfield reaches the infield.  This Region is designed to transition players from a coach pitch to baseball.  There will not be any standings and the playoff seedings will be a random pull from the hat. Teams will be limited to 5 runs per inning.

The Southeast Region ( Ages 8, 9 & 10) features all player-pitch action and limited stealing throughout the season.  There are usually some rule modifications to help as players begin to adjust to all the player pitch format.  There will not be any standings and the playoff seedings will be a random pull from the hat. Teams will be limited to 5 runs per inning.

The Mid-Atlantic Region ( Ages 9, 10 & 11) features all player-pitch action and unlimited stealing throughout the season. There will be standings and the playoff seedings will be based on regular season results. Teams will be limited to 5 runs per inning.

The  New England Region ( Ages 10, 11 & 12)  is our most competitive Region and features all player-pitch action and unlimited stealing throughout the season. There is no limit on runs per inning and drop 3rd strike will be played.  There will be standings and the playoff seedings will be based on regular season results.
