Are you 13 or older and looking for a way to make money on the ballfield this summer? Our Cadet Umpire Training course will teach you everything you need to know to officiate youth baseball and softball games.

Here's what you'll get:
- Expert Instruction: Learn from experienced NJ District 12 adult umpires with over 20 years of professional experience.
- Flexible Schedule: You set your own game schedule and work when you're available. Games are typically weeknights and Saturdays.
- Great Pay: Earn $30 per game with bonus pay for reaching certain game totals, with higher pay for tournaments.
- Free Training & Equipment: Lawrence Little League covers all training fees and provides you with a complete umpire uniform and equipment.
What you'll learn:
- Rules of softball and baseball
- Field mechanics and responsibilities
- Plate mechanics, calling balls and strikes
- Conducting pre-game meetings
- Handling game situations
- Safety considerations
Training Class Details:
- 2025 Class Dates: January 28, February 4, 11, 18, 25 (6-8pm)
- Location: Hamilton Library
- On-Field Training: March 2 (1-4pm, Lawrence Central Park)
- Commitment: Attend all classroom and on-field training sessions, and work at least three games for the LTJBSA during the 2025 season.
Returning Cadets should complete the form and select Returning Official - Not Taking Course so we know you are willing to work next season. Returning Cadets and Lawrence Little League coaches may also choose to audit the course for free.
