Volunteer Registration Process Overview

All volunteers that will be in contact with children on or off the field are required to take safety education courses as well as submit to a background check.

Below is the process overview, and scroll down this page to see details for each section.

There is no cost to complete most items on this list. Vendors, however, may try to upsell you to paid a certificate that is not required by the LTJBSA. IdentoGo, (Lawrence Township's provider for fingerprint checks) charges a fee for the service (approx. $27).

All volunteers must upload a Proof of Completion for each item on the above checklist via our LTJBSA Volunteer Document Upload Portal before the first practice of the season. 

Volunteers do need to upload all Proof of Completion documents at one time. Click "Save and Continue" and the form will email you a custom link to return to this page to add new documents as you complete your courses.

1 - Register to Volunteer on LTJBSA.com

All adults must register in our system to volunteer. We have off the field roles in league operations or on the field roles as a coach or umpire

To sign up:

🔴 Log in at LTJBSA.com

🔴  Choose VOLUNTEER from the left sidebar.

🔴  Click the FIND VOLUNTEER ROLES button on the right side of the menu bar.

🔴 Tap the blue SELECT button under the role you want to volunteer for, then CONTINUE at the bottom of the page.

🔴  Complete the contact information, select your shirt size, and accept the Code of Conduct.

🔴  Click CONTINUE at the bottom of the page. 

2 - Complete CDC 'Heads Up to Youth Sports' Course

Each year, LTJBSA volunteers must complete the CDC "HEADS UP to Youth Sports: Online Training for Coaches" course.  This online free course and certification helps volunteers understand what a concussion is, how to identify signs, and what actions to take to keep young athletes safe.

To take this course:

🔴 Register for an account at CDC Train. During account creation, use "Join By Group Search" and use the following:

 











🔴 After completing registration, click here to visit the course page (be sure you are logged into your account)

🔴 Click Pre-Assessment to start the course.

🔴 Once you complete all sections, click Print Certificate and download the PDF document as your Proof of Completion. You do not need to purchase a printed copy of the certificate.

3 - COMPLETE 'ABUSE AWARENESS FOR ADULTS' COURSE

All Lawrence Little League Volunteers must complete USA Baseball's Abuse Awareness for Adults course.

Hosted by former Major Leaguer and current Chicago Cubs Manager, David Ross, the course provides resources to create a positive and safe environment for all athletes, coaches, parents, umpires, and spectators by understanding how to recognize misconduct and abuse of all types. Topics covered include how to identify and report incidents and what abuse awareness policies should be in place.

To access the course:

  • Create a free account with USA Mobile Coach either online or via their app.
  • Select Courses from the top navigation. 
  • Click Abuse Awareness for Adults and then Enroll

Once you complete the course, download the PDF certificate and use as your Proof of Completion.  

4 - COMPLETE LITTLE LEAGE DIAMOND LEADER COURSE

The Little League Diamond Leader program was created as part of the Susan Crown Exchange’s Million Coaches Challenge and developed in coordination with the Aspen Institute’s Project Play. The course navigates Little League volunteers through real-life scenarios that are being faced in local leagues all around the world each year, helping coaches are provided a better understanding of the impact they have on their players, both on and off the field.

Completion of the Little League Diamond Leader Program is required Little League scorekeepers, coaches, or managers.

5 - Complete the LTJBSA Safety & First Aid Course and Quiz

All volunteers not CPR-certified must completed the LTJBSA Safety & First Aid Course and Quiz located on this page.

Following review of the course, volunteers must complete a 10-question quiz. A Proof of Completion PDF will then be emailed to the volunteer, and this document must be uploaded into the LTJBSA Volunteer Document Upload Portal. If you are CPR-certified, you must upload a copy of your current card into the portal to complete this step.

6 - Complete the Little League Online Volunteer Application from JDP

Once you have registered with the LTJBSA as a Little League volunteer, you will receive an email from JDP asking them to complete an Online Little League Volunteer Application. As part of the application, you will be required to agree to a national background check. There is no cost for this service. 

Emails are sent in late February or early March from a sender address of "[email protected]" and will look like the graphic below.  Do not register on the JDP website.  You will have 14 days to complete the application. 

You will not need to upload a JDP confirmation into the LTJBSA document portal - information is transmitted automatically. 



7 - Complete the LAWRENCE TWP FINGERPRINTING PROCESS VIA IDENTOGO

Lawrence Township Ordinance 1767-03 requires that all current and prospective persons with unsupervised direct access to minors involved with such youth programs be required to submit to criminal history record background checks including collecting a Live Scan Fingerprint. This is separate from Little League or Babe Ruth League requirements.

The Township desires that all youth recreation programs using Township facilities and/or which are funded by the Township in whole or in part be required to perform criminal background checks on any person with unsupervised direct access to minors, as a condition of using the Township facilities. 

This process, conducted by the Township's preferred vendor IdentoGo, costs $27 and must be completed every three years. To schedule an appointment:

  • Visit https://uenroll.identogo.com
  • Enter 2F1J3Y as SERVICE CODE.
  • Click on SCHEDULE or MANAGE YOUR APPOINTMENT and complete the application
  • Enter L03010 as the CONTRIBUTOR CASE NUMBER.

You will receive a Service Confirmation Receipt email from IdentoGo which should be used as your Proof of Completion. Please "Print to PDF" the email, and make sure the PDF shows name, date, UE ID, and TCN numbers prior to uploading in our portal.
