COVID-19 Update from Lawrence Little League

Good Morning, Lawrence Little League Families.

First and foremost, we hope that this email finds you and your family healthy and safe. It goes without saying that while we would love for Baseball & Softball to be a sense of relief and comfort for all of us during this trying time, we all know that that is currently not possible. We appreciate everyone's patience as we all work through this unprecedented situation.

We wanted to provide you with some updates and information (at least as much as we currently know) about where we are as a league and what the near future holds.

Below please find a list of FAQ's that we hope answer some questions and concerns you may have. We will continue to communicate with you as time moves forward and the situation continues to evolve. We hope that you remain positive and continue to be safe. Lawrence Little League is proud to be part of a fantastic community and please let us know if you have any additional concerns or questions.

* What is the status of the current spring season?
Originally Little League International recommended suspending all games, practices, clinics and meetings through April 6, 2020. They have since modified that date and are now recommending not holding any activities through May 11, 2020. Lawrence Little League and all NJ District 12 Little League's are heeding that recommendation and will not start any sooner than May 11, 2020.

* What happens if Little League International allows activities as of May 11, 2020?
Even if Little League International allows us to start activities on May 11, 2020, we will still need to follow any and all Local, County and State Mandates at that time. As this situation is fluid and ever changing, our situation locally may be completely different then in other places in the United States and the world.

* If we are allowed to start the season on May 11, 2020 - what will the season schedule look like?
As we get closer to May 11th, the Lawrence Little League Board will meet and put together a game and practice schedule that will benefit the entire league for both the Baseball and Softball programs. There are numerous options available and we may need to think outside the box. As this situation has never happened before, we may need to get creative.

* Will there be a summer tournament All Star Season?
Little League International at this time is currently working though numerous scenarios regarding the summer tournament season. The primary goal right now is to get a spring regular season in.

* What happens if we are not able to start Little League Activities on May 11, 2020?
If we are unable to start May 11 2020, we will look at the current situation and recommendations from Little league International and our local authorities and make a determination on how to proceed.

* What options are on the table if the spring season is completely cancelled?
Some thoughts that have been discussed would be to have a Summer Rec League and/or an expanded Fall Rec League. All options will be on the table.

* Will there be a refund if the Spring 2020 Season is cancelled?
Yes. All families will receive a 100% refund if the Spring 2020 season is cancelled. Any additional league or season we may run in the Summer or Fall will have a separate registration process.

* When will we know if the season will start?
Honestly, we are not sure. As the situation continues to evolve, each new day brings new challenges and a change in circumstances. We do anticipate hearing more from both Little League International and local authorities in the next couple weeks.

* Where can I learn more about Little league International's response and communications?
