Little League Baseball: Lawrence has the right mix for deep District 12 run
July 1, 2021
For the Lawrence Little League 12U All-Stars to have success at the District 12 tournament, they need everybody in the lineup to contribute.
That's exactly what manager Aaron Robison thinks can happen with his group of youngsters.
"It's a collective group," Robison said. "The strength is from the top to the bottom, everybody contributes and has a good time."
Lawrence opens its campaign against Bordentown in the 4 p.m. game on July 3. All games are taking place at the East Windsor PAL on Airport Road, with the tournament's winner advancing to Region 3 play at Sunnybrae Little League.
Robison believes his team has pitching depth to carry it into the later rounds.
"We have some arms that do a really good job," Robison said. "Hitting-wise, maybe not all of them are driving it to the wall, but everyone is getting on base somehow. If we find a way to get one, we can push some things through."
The coach likes his team's chemistry as well.
"Just play within in themselves," he said when asked what they'll need to do well to have a chance to win. "Sometimes when you join a District tournament with the chance of moving on, you try to do too much."
